This Saturday’s Thirty-First Annual E. F. Schumacher Lectures in New York City is one of many events celebrating the centennial of the birth of the author of “Small Is Beautiful.” Juliet Schor and Gar Alperovitz, Charles Young, Rina Kuusipalo, and Kyle Gracey of Youth for a New Economy, and two representatives from Occupy Wall Street will address the emergence of a new economy, a next economy, a green economy, a responsible economy, — the necessity of which Schumacher described in his influential book.
