“Condemned to grow” (Die Presse am Sonntag)

21. September 2009

Based on an interview with SERI president Fritz Hinterberger, the Austrian quality newspaper “Die Presse am Sonntag” publishes an interesting article “Zum Wachsen verdammt” the content of which would justify a question mark at the end of the title.

“Ein geringes Wirtschaftswachstum führt zu Arbeitslosikeit, ein konstantes zu einem kapputten Planeten. Forscher suchen Auswege aus diesem Dilemma”, the author Karl Gaulhofer says in the introduction of his article on p. 3 of the economic section (p. 19).

Growth in Transition

The project “Growth in Transition” intends to trigger a dialogue among institutions and people about how we can shape this transformation process towards sustainability. It also aims at contributing to current EU and international processes and at informing the Austrian public about them (e.g. the EU initiative “Beyond GDP”).
