    Panel discussion

Migration is a crucial factor for the economic and social wealth for Europe, facing rapid demographic change of aging societies and low fertility rates. Shrinking labour force and skill shortages are some of the most pressing consequences in economic terms. However, especially in economically vulnerable and hard times with high unemployment and tight public budgets, migration is also a challenge that Europe has to cope with. Therefore and in order to convert this challenge into a benefit, clear and fair rules for legal migration are a prerequisite but only the first step. Challenges and chances of current migration flows are the key topic of this session, highlighting/looking for best-practices and ways to derive maximum benefit from these changing framework conditions.
