The Little family with the big footprint

Anne (42) and Johnny Little (44) are married, they have two children: Kevin (13) and Catherine (11). After their studies Anne and Johnny Little have moved back to their hometown and have made career. Anne Little is working for a small biotec enterprise and is dealing with the development of new pharmaceuticals. Johnny Little is controller at an automotive supplier. Both belong to the upper middle class.

In the course of the past few years the housekeeper of the Little family has taken care a lot of Catharine and Kevin. The Little family is untroubled financially. With an inheritance they could repay the credit for their terraced house ahead of schedule, with their double income they indulge in expensive hobbies and several holidays per year.

Little’s family story was continued within our discussion forum. The case study of this representative upper middle class family exemplified the ten thematic sessions of the international conference “Growth in Transition” and aimed to give support to the discussion.

Growth in Transition

The project “Growth in Transition” intends to trigger a dialogue among institutions and people about how we can shape this transformation process towards sustainability. It also aims at contributing to current EU and international processes and at informing the Austrian public about them (e.g. the EU initiative “Beyond GDP”).
