Since 2008 the process Growth in Transition (Wachstum im Wandel), an initiative of the Austrian Ministry of Life, is in progress in Austria. There were two international conferences in 2010 and 2012 with almost 600 participants each. In a number of stakeholder dialogues eight policy papers concerning different policy fields were created. Several more of such papers are on their way or in preparation.
Growth in Transition Austria currently plans to intensify international networking and thereby gives impulses to start similar processes in other countries. For that purpose an International Stakeholder Dialogue took place in Brussels on 16th and 17th January 2014. The organisers were ESDN – European Sustainable Development Network and Growth in Transition Austria. The European Economic and Social Committee / Sustainable Development Observatory acted as host. The title of the event was „International Stakeholder Dialogue Growth in Transition – Sustainable Economic and Social Concepts”. Over 50 participants out of 8 Nations attended the event.
